December brings a time for family and friends - ‘Long Wool Sheep’ conjure up Winter Solstice, the turning point at this time of year, when we wear Christmas jumpers and wooly socks. When foxes screech in the dark night, as houses are filled with magical evergreens, woodland holy wreaths and pinecone displays. A time of coming together. The sheep greet each other as turkeys are served.
These Lincoln long-wool sheep, with their long faces, are shown looking over a wooden gate.
The paint has been laid on thickly to replicate the heavy curly fleeces of these sultry-eyed sheep.
Painted in grey, soft tones on a large, standard edged canvas in oils.
