This tiny brown European Wren can be heard scuttling around the hedgerows on many a walk near my home. They are one of the commonest birds but are not always easy to see. I was lucky to have one make a home in my garden, which inspired me to paint this piece. His little round body and beautiful subtle markings, narrow tail which he tilted perkily, were lovely to paint.
Painted in oils on a thick edged canvas, it has a complex background of an old wooden door and decorative fixings. A small oil painting, rectangular, it would look lovely framed with a thick edged gold floater frame. It also looks great as part of a set (see other examples in the series); building a gallery wall of Little Bird paintings and prints in your home, or placing it as an individual piece in a prominent corner, Prints are available also and available in larger sizes, if you prefer a bigger piece.
