This is a small rectangular, deep edged canvas unframed painting study of a Nuthatch set against tree bark. It has a dark woodland aspect, with acorns and sloe berries to complement the dark blue tones. The white-breasted Nuthatch has a comic personality with animated jerky movements as it races up and down tree trunks with its strong splayed toes and is even able to grip onto the underside of tree limbs. This painting would look lovely framed in a dark wood frame.
